How it works

Government portals, job application forms and exam registrations often reject photos over a fixed size — 20KB, 50KB and 100KB are the usual limits. Getting under that line by guessing quality settings is tedious, so this tool does it for you.

Enter the size you need and the tool automatically finds the right quality level by re-encoding repeatedly until the output fits. If the picture is too large in pixel dimensions to reach your target, it will scale it down as needed.

Frequently asked questions

Why would I need exactly 50KB?

Many official forms, university applications and government ID systems enforce a strict maximum upload size. A photo that is 51KB will simply be rejected, so hitting the target exactly is often the whole point.

How does it hit the target size?

It re-encodes the image at different quality levels using a binary search, checking the output size each time, until it finds the highest quality that still fits under your limit.

What if my image cannot get that small?

If quality alone is not enough, the tool also reduces the pixel dimensions. Extremely detailed photos at very small targets will lose visible detail — that is unavoidable.

Is the image uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Your photo stays on your device the entire time.

Can I use this offline?

Yes. Once the page has loaded, you can disconnect and keep compressing. Nothing requires a network connection.
